Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Batter Blaster helped celebrate the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians’ 5th Anniversary in true Southern style with delicious, traditional chicken and waffles! Also attending and providing food, beverages and music were Whole Foods, Kohana Slow Roasted Coffee, Hey Cupcake!, RockStar Bagels, Tito’s, Twin Liquors, Ocote Soul Sounds and Adrian Quesada and Celebrity Chef Jeremy Bruch aka “Jrm” from the band What Made Milwaukee Famous.

Special thanks to Executive Director of HAAM Carolyn Schwarz for organizing such a nice event!

Would you like some Habenero-lemon-garlic-honey butter created by Chef Jrm on your Batter Blaster waffle? Yes, it’s in a squirt gun.

Batter Blaster Takes A Bite Of Elgin Sausage

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Batter Blaster CEO Sean O’Connor and COO Nick Tangborn – that’s me – recently took a trip up to Elgin, TX, to the Southside Market BBQ, a restaurant and facility that makes Elgin Sausage, some of the tastiest sausage you’ll ever try. Our pal Ross Johnson gave us the full tour, including a 10 lb meatfest that had both of us giddy with delight.

Ross shows off their wares in the Southside Market store; all the sausage is smoked on the premises.

Elgin's famous hot sauce -- it's a vinegar based sauce that separates so you have to shake it up real good. Killer stuff.

The deer room -- lots of taxidermy here. You can't quite make it out in that blurry iPhone photo but that's a bobcat springing off the second to last column. I think one deer was staring at me the whole time I ate.

Turducken is for wusses -- real foodies eat chicken stuffed with jambalaya. You can almost hear me salivating in this picture.

This is where the magic happens. Or maybe it's where you order your food. I get them confused sometimes.

That's a lot of meat. At least we had pickles and crackers to keep us honest. And yes, it's all served on butcher paper. Dig in.

Meet Batter Blaster’s Austin Office

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Hello, welcome to The Back Burner, a blog that will take you behind the scenes at Batter Blaster’s Austin, TX., HQ. You’ll meet the staff, our families, hear about what we’re up to — we’re home cooks and music lovers, among other things — and hopefully get to know us a little better. You’ll also meet our Batter Blaster family in Arizona and California.

Sean here is our CEO and founder, the guy who thought of pancake batter in a can, and actually saw it through from development to production to where we are now -- 10,000 stores and counting. That's him behind the can.

Nice fork work!

And here's Madeleine Jr., Sean's little girl and our mascot. You can tell it's her in most photos as she's probably eating off the floor.

Sandy manages the office and answers your calls. Sandy likes the jam bands -- she probably has a Phish song in her head right now. Spatulas make a lovely Christmas tree ornament

Nick here is our COO. He likes both kinds of music, country and western. Crawling under desks is an actual job duty.
